Products and Services  Internet Services  Credit cards on the web

Many people, both website customers and website owners, have asked us about the security of their credit card and personal information once it is typed in on a website. Common questions include:

Is it safe?

How can I convince my customers that it is safe?

Will someone steal my information?

These questions are all valid and one of our main goals when developing an e-commerce site is to work with our client and our client's customers to make sure that they feel confident in our data security procedures. To keep your information safe we use a technology called SSL (Secured Sockets Layer). SSL causes data sent from a form where you input credit card and other personal information, to our database where that information is stored to be encrypted. This data is encrypted in such a way that it can only be interpreted by the web server that your web browser is connected to and no one else. SSL technology ensures that your information is kept safe. Another common question at this point is: How do I know when a page is using SSL technology? This is another extremely valid question. To verify that the page you are entering data in on is using SSL you need to right click your mouse on that page, preferably in a location where there are no graphics. Once you have right-clicked you need to choose properties. At this point a gray box will come up you will want to look for the Connection Type. Under connection type you should see SSL with some information after it about what type of SSL it is. If the page you are on says SSL then you are protected and any information you enter will be encrypted when it is sent to our web server.
